St. Agnes Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild

CALLING ALL WOMEN OF SAINT AGNES PARISH! You are invited to join the St. Agnes Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild. Our Confraternity has been in existence since January of 1958 and we will be celebrating our 65th Anniversary in 2023.

The Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild is a parish organization, and one of 3,375 confraternities affiliated with the Pittsburgh Arch Confraternity.  The organization is dedicated to instilling spirituality within our families as well as combining a spirituality among members.

We are a group of 100 plus devoted women who actively participate in parish functions. Many of the functions include, but are not limited to, covered dish dinners; an Evening of Recollection; a Memorial Mass for deceased members; our annual vendor sale/salad bar event; a bake sale; hostessing for various parish affairs; fish fry volunteering; a basket raffle sale for our annual bazaar; and support for abused mothers and children. We also invite speakers who lecture on informative and educational topics. Helping to finance numerous parish projects is one of our objectives.

Our Confraternity’s spiritual growth continues to be nurtured by prayer; Mass attendance; reception of Holy Communion; days of recollection; memorial services which are held annually for our deceased members; recitation of the Rosary at the funeral home; an “honor guard” along the center aisle at the funeral Mass of a deceased member – always under the guidance of our Spiritual Advisor, a parish priest.

2021 Christian Mothers Christmas Party

Social time and entertainment is included during the year, of which there is a Christmas party and a summer picnic.  Throughout the year, our social events include monthly meetings with programs presented on diverse subjects; AND, also our “Special Events” includng trips; picnics, a planned Party at St. Anne’s Home; our Annual Christmas Party which is held in honor of the members of the Clelian Heights School.

We act as hostesses for parish receptions such as Bishop visits, welcoming new priests and summer seminarians, farewell gatherings for those priests who leave our parish, and any other parish function for which we are needed. Most recently we held a reception for our 2022 Confirmation Class which was attended by parish members and guests from visiting parishes.

We are involved in many fund raisers which are designed to aid the financial needs of St. Agnes. For example, we host the Salad Luncheon and Vendor Fair each year; we are in charge of The Basket Raffle Room at our Annual Bazaar; we have an Annual Bake Sale; and we work at the Fish Fry, The St. Ann-St. Joachim Breakfast, our Parish May Crowning, etc. These fund raisers enable us to do much for our Parish. Over the years we have provided the keyboard piano, hymnal covers, the carillon, priests vestments, server cassocks, tables for Resurrection Hall, and more.

While SERVING, we enrich our own lives, as we continue to be blessed by God and carry the torch for many years to come.

An invitation is extended to any practicing Catholic woman of St. Agnes, married or single, to join us in this most rewarding journey of faith.  We meet the fourth Tuesday evening of each month at 6:00 pm in Resurrection Hall.
