Paul Rubens - Assumption of the Virgin Painting

Studio of Sir Peter Paul Rubens, The Assumption of the Virgin, probably mid-1620s, oil on panel, Samuel H. Kress Collection, National Gallery of Art

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary honors the bodily taking up of the Virgin Mary into Heaven.

Defined by Pope Pius XII on November 1, 1950, Munificentissimus Deus recognizes that the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus “having completed the course of her earthly life, was assumed body and soul into heavenly glory” (1), where she “shares in the glory of her Son’s Resurrection, anticipating the resurrection of all members of His Body” (974 – Catholic Catechism).

Please join us in honoring the Blessed Mother at one of the following masses.

Mass Schedule:

Monday, August 14 at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, August 15 at 7:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
