The Spirit of Saint Agnes Mission Committee was formed 10 years ago after the Holy Spirit gathered a few of us together after attending Christ Life’s Discovering Christ program. We were formed to live like Christ and help people in need: locally, nationally, and internationally.

Our mission statement:

We the people of St. Agnes pray that with the grace of the Holy Spirit we may help those in need.

We are here to lovingly support our brothers and sisters with their physical need and spiritual growth through our relationships, service, and direct ministry so that all may share in a closer union with our Lord. We at present have 8 members and are looking to expand with new members and ideas. The time commitment is minimal as we meet usually twice a year.

We have two major outreaches:

“St. Nicholas Jars” are distributed during Lent and support local outreach.  The program consists of parishioners taking a mason jar home, filling it with spare change throughout the year, and then distributing it to someone in need. Volunteers may distribute their jar to whomever they wish.

Sister Elvira’s Think Act Peace (TAP) mission is an international outreach for which we organize material donations in July.  The TAP outreach has helped a very poor village in Masbate, Philippines for the past 10 years. Sister Elvira sends us a list of material needs which are then published in the bulletin, collected, packed, and sent by boat in hopes to arrive by Christmas. Because of the generous donations of Saint Agnes parishioners and friends, Sister Elvira’s literacy camps have enabled some children to attend high school, and four have gone on to college. Other literacy camp alumni have set up similar camps to uplift their communities. Sister Elvira’s programs have given the poor different ways to help lift themselves out of poverty through hard work and persistence.

TAP’S Motto: Peace is sharing Talents and Resources.

The Spirit of Saint Agnes Mission Committee thanks our parish family so much for their past generosity and support for these two needed ministries. If you would like to join us, we would love for you to share your talent and ideas to help others.  Please call the parish office at 724-863-2626 for more information.

In addition, during our Ministry of the Month time in March 2023 there will be a sign-up sheet on the Ministry table in the Narthex.

God Bless You!
