September 1, 2017:  Check it out! We have a new Liturgy of the Word for Children Room a.k.a. the Altar Server Sacristy! “It looks like a new place!” said one parishioner. “It IS a new place!” said another. This room has been used for several years for Children’s Liturgy of the Word during Mass but it always seemed a little temporary after using the Convent Chapel was abandoned because of weather and time constraints. So a few generous and gifted parishioners, one industrious summer deacon, Dan, and one talented teen, Tegan Lochner, worked together on a total do over of the space. While the adults painted the walls, donated a cute carpet, kid-sized chairs, and even a table cloth for the “altar,” the teenager put her artistry to work on a mural depicting the story of the Blessing of Children when Jesus said, “Let the children come to me…” Matthew 19:14. To top off the décor, the decorators relocated the 6 ft. “World Mission” Wall Rosary from the Convent Chapel. This special rosary was made by our Vacation Bible School children in 2013 out of 2″ and 3″ colorful decoupage Styrofoam balls linked together by paper clips! The colors of this rosary represent all the areas of the word and was introduced by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in 1951.

Both the children and catechists are happily praising God in the new space. The adults are planning for a whiteboard while praying for a smartboard and tablet!

Faith is what gets you started. Hope is what keeps you going. Love is what brings you to the end.

We will have a special dedication blessing for the Liturgy of the Word for Children Room at all weekend Masses, September 16-17, 2017.
