Women at the Well is a women’s prayer group which prays with the upcoming Sunday Gospel using a shared Lectio Divina format. We gather for an hour each week to practice the technique of Lectio Divina (Latin for “Divine Reading”) as set forth by St Benedict (visit Saint Andrew’s Abbey for more information).
How It Works
We meet weekly (Thursdays) in front of the Blessed Sacrament and start in silence.  As women arrive, they come in, get settled and have the opportunity to write in our prayer intention book.  After a basic opening prayer, we read the upcoming Sunday Gospel reading and a reflection (usually from the USCCB or a similar Catholic site).
Next, someone else rereads the scripture and each of us shares the word or phrase from the scripture which God set upon our heart as being special that evening.
We then share the scripture twice more, quietly asking the Lord “What are you telling me?” and “What do you want me to do?”  We share the answers to these questions with the group through the format of prayer then sit in silence as we listen to the Lord speaking to our hearts.
We end with a period of intercessory prayer, an Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be, and St Michael prayer.
